Understand funding
The annual cost of undergraduate and graduate teacher training programs is approximately £9,535.
Even if you currently have a student loan, you can still apply for maintenance and tuition price loans.
You may be eligible for a tax-free bursary or scholarship of up to £31k to help you with your training if you want to teach particular courses. There is no need to repay this money.
Consider getting experience

Find a postgraduate teacher training course
You can obtain qualified teacher status (QTS) through teacher training or QTS with a postgraduate certificate in education (PGCE).

Start your career
You’re a qualified teacher, congratulations!
You will be an early career teacher (ECT), formerly known as a recently qualified teacher (NQT), now that you have begun your first teaching position.
You will receive a bundle of support to help you get started throughout your first two years as an early career teacher. If you work for a maintained school, you will automatically receive this, but many other schools also offer it to ECTs.
You will be paired with a mentor who will encourage you, help you gain confidence, and assist you improve your teaching abilities, including behavior control and teaching adaptation techniques. This enhances your initial training as a teacher.
