The Canada Home Child Care Provider Pilot and Home Support Worker Pilot are immigration pathways designed to help foreign caregivers work and settle in Canada. These programs offer a direct route to permanent residency while allowing caregivers to gain valuable work experience in Canada.

Benefits of These Pilots

Direct Pathway to PR: Eligible applicants and their families can become permanent residents after completing 24 months of work experience in Canada.
Work Permit with Family Benefits: Spouses can apply for an open work permit, and children can receive study permits.
No LMIA Required: Unlike other caregiver programs, these pilots do not require a Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA).
Better Working Conditions: The program ensures fair wages, legal work status, and protection under Canadian labor laws.

Eligibility Requirements

Home child care provider (NOC 44100)

  • You must have cared for children in your own home or in your employer’s private home.
    • The location couldn’t be an institutional setting such as a daycare.
  • You didn’t need to live in your employer’s home to qualify.
  • Experience as a foster parent didn’t count.

Apply for: Heidelberg University Scholarships 2025 (Study in Germany). 

Home support worker (NOC 44101)

  • You must have cared for someone who needs help from a home support worker in your employer’s private home.
    • The location couldn’t be an institutional setting such as a nursing home.
  • You didn’t need to live in your employer’s home to qualify.
