About GAs

The time to make sure your employees have the skills and competencies to support the future growth of your company is now more important than ever.

Designed to meet the demands of business and industry, Graduate Apprenticeships (GAs) enable workers to continue working for up to four years while obtaining their degree.

GAs collaborate with RGU to develop the workforce of the future by integrating business into the learning process. This ensures that the learning process aligns with your operational priorities and supports the skills your organization will need to succeed in the future as the economy improves.

Working in partnership with RGU to build the workforce of your future, GAs involve business in the learning process so that it fits seamlessly with your operational priorities and supports the skills needs for your organization’s future success as our economy recovers.

Developed by Skills Development Scotland, in response to employer demands, Graduate Apprenticeships:

  • Address national skills shortages in key areas, such as digital technology and construction
  • Allow employers to shape their workforce in line with business demands
  • Offer a high-value, low-cost option for employers to retain and upskill staff

Graduate Apprenticeships are delivered in partnership with the Scottish Funding Council and Skills Development Scotland

You Can Apply For: Bursaries for postgraduate teacher training

How do they work?

Your employee must reside in Scotland and work in a position relevant to the course topic in order to be eligible.

You can enroll an existing employee or hire a new hire expressly to complete a Graduate Apprenticeship.

Our Virtual Learning Environment, which includes online lectures, discussion boards, and course materials, supports RGU’s work-based learning methodology. In addition, they have on-campus meetings at RGU in Aberdeen where they can share ideas with their teachers and peer group.

Apprentices use their knowledge and abilities to address issues at work. Participants will receive structured instruction and reflective practice support from RGU, and company mentors will assist them in integrating theory into practical workplace situations.

RGU has worked with companies for decades to create programs that allow workers to study and pick up new skills while still being productive at work.

Graduate Apprenticeships are a transformative work-based learning program that aligns with RGU’s values and competencies.

Our discussions with businesses have brought to light how crucial it is to provide a flexible schedule that enables the apprentice to work as much as possible, only visiting campus when required. No matter where they are located, apprentices’ learning needs are met by our delivery methodology.
